King Tides today! This picture was taken at Yachats city park. 


South Beach State Campground at Newport, Oregon is AMAZING!!!  JUST  beautiful. A large park with 9 loops. Camping in the winter means few people and lots of wide open spaces. This is site C11. Just perfect. Close to trails yet private.

 Exploring Newport, Oregon today.  We had a break in the weather to allow some exploration of Newport. Oregon. We went for a bike ride down to South Jetty. We then went into town and had lunch at a fish market, where we ate outside in barely hitting 50 degree weather. I thought we were eating outside because of COVID but NO they only had outside eating available. LOL. We drove around to find the Historic district which we will explore by foot tomorrow. We also have reservations for the Newport Aquarium tomorrow. Today was a nice day and tomorrow will be, too.

Harbor Vista, Florence

 We got in after dark last night in the pouring down rain. We woke up this morning to beautiful sunshine chilly day.  This is an outlook by our campsite (A8) overlooking Siuslaw River/Estuary to the Ocean A very cooperative Heron that was very cooperative in our picture taking. If you zoom in, you can see his beautiful beard. We took a walk down to the harbor area of the park... We are camped at the end of this estuary.  We spent the afternoon walking around Old Town in Florence. We had lunch at Traveler's Cove, an excellent Mexican restaurant on the water. Due to COVID restrictions, we ate outside. We were lucky in that the sun was overhead and the wind wasn't blowing. Just as we were finishing our delicious chile verde enchilada, it started getting cool and breezy. We walked the town, looking at the various galleries. We saw some nice pieces but not "the ones":)  All in all, a very nice day. Tomorrow, we head to Newport.

 We are living under COVID times. So what else to do for our 43rd Anniversary but go camping? This is a safe, low contact way to enjoy our anniversary.  We left yesterday and stayed at Bulliard's State Park outside of Bandon.  On the way we ate at Red Fish in Port Orford. We were the only ones in the restaurant except for a forty something mountain biker who was traveling the length of Highway 101. He and Steve struck up a conversation, they were both in construction and had both stayed in Tule Lake. Come to find out, they both had stayed at Faye and Bob's bed and breakfast. This kid was so excited that he said, "Can I hug you?" Steve only had time to turn his head before John hugged him. We are just hoping that because he is traveling solo on his bike and camping that he is COVID free. All of that said, they had a nice conversation.
